About Ascend Autism

Ascend Autism was founded by a group of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) and healthcare operators who are here to provide evidence-based practices to children with Autism. All interventions are based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, which focuses on the connection between learning and behavior. We provide the Connecticut families we work with the resources and techniques necessary to best deal with an ASD diagnosis.

In-Home ABA Therapy in Fairfield County, CT

For many families, the home is an effective setting for a child to receive autism treatment. That’s why Ascend Autism offers in-home ABA therapy to families throughout Connecticut, including Fairfield County.

In-home ABA therapy provides numerous opportunities for growth and learning. The home environment offers comfort and familiarity that is not as easily found in other therapy settings, which helps your child stay calm and focused on the session. Family support and participation are encouraged during these sessions and are a major benefit of in-home therapy.

In-home autism therapy can begin as soon as the child starts to show signs of ASD and services are recommended by a medical professional. When enrolling in an in-home therapy program, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will provide an assessment and develop a treatment plan for the child. Once the treatment plan is approved, a Behavior Technician (BT) or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) will begin conducting day-to-day sessions in the home.

Our Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy Programs

Our autism therapy programs in Connecticut offer a variety of interventions based on the individual child’s unique needs. At the core of all our programs is a therapy called Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

ABA therapy is recognized as the most effective way to address the difficulties arising from autism spectrum disorder. ABA helps individuals improve their focus, memory, social skills, language, communication skills, and academics

Types of Therapy and Support Services We Provide

Autism treatments provide the most impact when they are applied as early as possible. Early signs of autism can appear in children as young as 18 months; treatment can start as soon as there is a diagnosis. Early intervention care is in-home and customizable to your child’s unique nature. We work with a variety of tools to create a supportive, stimulating environment in a familiar location.

As the name suggests, targeted intervention treatment concentrates on specific behaviors, mainly social functions. This is of particular benefit to children with milder autism or individual issues with communication and socialization. In our intervention program, the majority of treatment hours are focused on social engagement activities.

The subtleties of daily human interactions can be difficult to master for a child with Autism. Things we take for granted—making small talk, showing an interest in others, enjoying meaningful dialogue—involve complex social behaviors that aren’t readily apparent to someone with autism. Social skills work teaches the value of listening, reading, and reacting to cues, and mastering other peer-to-peer interactions.

Parenting is a challenge, even under ideal circumstances. Parents of children with autism face an additional set of challenges specific to their child’s developmental issues. Thankfully, Ascend Autism’s treatment programs help immensely. Our parental services help train parents to become more than capable caregivers. We make you a vital part of every phase of their treatment. You’ll learn to help your child through core issues and challenging behaviors and help improve their life.
