Ascend Autism’s ABA therapy services are tailored to each child’s unique needs, employing a naturalistic and captivating play-based methodology with social skills learning activities. We provide personalized therapy and support from Behavior Therapists trained in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). The supervision and direction of all autism therapy services are overseen and directed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
Our full-day ABA therapy program focuses on teaching behavior, communication, and social interaction skills. This 35–40-hour weekly program is best for busy families in Stamford and the surrounding areas.
Our half-day ABA therapy program is similar to our full-day program but is less time-intensive at 20–25 hours a week. In the interest of providing families as much flexibility as possible, there is a half-day morning option as well as a half-day afternoon option.
This program is for school-aged children to improve communication, increase independence, and cultivate social skills with other children around their age. The program has limited availability; contact our Westport location to learn more.
Coaching sessions with your Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provide the training and support family members need to transfer the progress at the center to the home.
Autism (autism spectrum disorder, or ASD) is a developmental disorder affecting communication and behavior. It is commonly characterized by difficulty with communication and social skills, limited interests, and repetitive behaviors. You can learn even more from our autism 101 article.
ABA stands for “applied behavioral analysis.” ABA uses positive reinforcement to help teach new skills and behaviors in various scenarios autistic children will face in life, focusing on the relationship between learning and behavior. Learn more from our “What is ABA?” article.
ABA therapy includes many different techniques and practices, including positive reinforcement, teaching new skills, and controlling the learning environment. Some specific interventions we use include Natural Teaching Environment (NET), Discrete Trial Training (DTT), and Pivotal Response Therapy (PRT).
Typically, early intervention means any type of intervention or therapy that begins as early as possible in a child’s life. It may also refer to a state-funded/federal-funded program that provides support and therapy services to babies and children (up to age three) with developmental delays or disabilities. Our office will contact your insurance company to verify benefits and we will send you an intake packet for your child.
Once your insurance benefits have been verified, we will arrange an assessment with one of our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA). The BCBA will use these assessments to develop a comprehensive treatment plan for your child.
Once a plan is ready, the BCBA will schedule a meeting with you to review the treatment plan and make any final adjustments before the first therapy session.
After the assessment, the BCBA will submit a service request to the insurance company to recommend the child’s specific hours or therapy. It generally takes about two weeks to process this request.
Once your treatment plan is finalized, we will contact you to coordinate a start date. Therapy begins!
