ABA Therapy Programs We Offer in Yonkers

Ascend Autism tailors our services to the unique needs of each child, employing a naturalistic and engaging play-based approach. Each child in our care receives individualized therapy and support from behavior therapists trained in ABA therapy, with integrated social skills learning. The supervision and direction of all services are provided by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), a Master’s level clinician.

Full-day Program

Our 35-40-hour weekly full-day ABA therapy program focuses on developing behavior, communication, and social skills. It is ideal for families who want to maximize progress and outcomes.

Half-day Program

Our half-day ABA therapy program provides similar benefits to the full-day program in a shorter weekly format of 20-25 hours. In the interest of providing families as much flexibility as possible, there is a half-day morning option and a half-day afternoon option.

After-School Program

This center-based program is for school-aged children to improve communication, increase independence, and develop social skills with adults and other school-aged children.

NYS EI Toddler Group Program

In accordance with NY State’s EI program¹, Ascend Autism near Yonkers offers two-hour early intervention ABA therapy sessions, five days per week. These services are limited to children who are under three years old and either do not have a formal autism spectrum disorder diagnosis or are not the right fit for the half-day or full-day program options.

Parent Coaching

These dedicated sessions with your child’s BCBA provide the training and support for parents and other family members to transfer progress made at the ABA therapy center to the home.

Learn More about ABA Therapy Services with our FAQs

What is ABA therapy? What does ABA stand for?

ABA is short for “applied behavioral analysis”. ABA uses positive reinforcement to help teach new skills and behaviors in various scenarios autistic children will face, focusing on the relationship between learning and behavior. Learn more from our “What is ABA?” article.

Is ABA covered by insurance?

Fortunately, ABA services are covered by the majority of health insurance plans, including Medicaid. Many states even mandate that health insurance companies cover ABA therapy. See footnote 1 at the end of this page for more about New York State’s EIP program.

What are the advantages of ABA Therapy?

ABA therapy has many advantages for children with autism spectrum disorder. By teaching both simple and complex skills, using positive reinforcement to celebrate wins, and allowing parents to get directly involved, ABA therapy has been shown by research to be effective.

What does early intervention mean?

Broadly speaking, early intervention means any type of intervention or therapy that begins as early as possible in a child’s life. It may also refer to a state-funded/federal-funded program that provides support and therapy services to babies and children (up to age three) with developmental delays or disabilities. Learn more from our “Can Autism Be Cured with Early Intervention?” article.
